2020 Gratitude & Joy Virtual Event Supports Youth & Families During COVID-19
On April 24th, 2020, Alum Rock Counseling Center hosted its “Gratitude and Joy Virtual Event.” This event replaced ARCC’s March Fundraising Luncheon, which was postponed due to COVID-19 and the associated health guidelines. As each of us is seeking to find strength, joy, hope, and connectedness in new and different ways during this period of sheltering at home, this was an opportunity to gather together (virtually) as a community and turn our attention towards the good work and heroism that is happening amidst the tragedy and difficult times.
The event kicked off with an inspiring video, which captured some of the gratitudes and hopes of ARCC’s youth and families, as they work with their counselors (remotely) during the current health crisis. You can view the full video here:
ARCC honored Jim Beall, California State Senator, District 15, as our 2020 Super Role Model for his extraordinary service to youth, low-income families and individuals facing mental health challenges. During his acceptance speech, Senator Beall noted: “Right now, I know people are struggling with isolation, fear, and depression. And it can be hard to get help. Today’s youth deserve a world where they can access services without any barriers…this isn’t a one-person job, we each play a role in changing the tide.” For this reason, ARCC was extremely grateful to its event sponsors and family of supporters for showing up and helping ARCC care for our youth and families during this challenging time.
