Alum Rock Counseling Center (ARCC) will honor two community role models, Darcie Green, President of the Santa Clara County Board of Education and Community & Government Relations Manager at Kaiser Permanente South Bay, and Ricardo Benavidez, Government & Community Relations Manager at Cisco, while celebrating its yearly achievements at its Annual Fundraising Luncheon. This year, two outstanding community role models will be honored for their distinguished leadership and unwavering commitment to disenfranchised communities in Santa Clara County. Ms. Green has dedicated her career to fighting for education equity, income equality and to bridge the gap and bring awareness of health disparities. Mr. Benavidez continues to work to support communities in order to generate positive and sustainable change in education and economic development. The role model award will also require that the two honorees engage in the mentoring program by introducing themselves and kicking off the school year, and assisting our eight grade graduation.
An anticipated 300 guests will be in attendance, including political, business and community leaders, ARCC executives and Board members, and youth. Proceeds from the event will go toward funding all ARCC programs, however the Ocala Mentorship Program will be featured at the event. Youth from the program will share their stories and the impact ARCC has had in their lives.
About ARCC:
ARCC deliver a full complement of behavioral health services to youth, their families and individuals in the neighborhoods we serve throughout Santa Clara County. We do so with a deep commitment to respect and reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of our clients. As partnerships are essential to our success, we will continue to build lasting connections with local schools, systems and other providers.
Since 1974, ARCC has serve the most high risk, low income families in East San Jose’s most volatile – primarily Latino – neighborhoods. In the past four decades our reach and impact have expanded significantly, but we have not strayed from the principles of our founders – to provide culturally competent services that respect and reflect the families we serve. Our goals continue to be centered around providing services that are inclusive, least restrictive and evidence-based.
