San Jose, September, 2009 Alum Rock Counseling Center has received a $4500.00 Community Grant from Best Buy Co., Inc. Best Buy leaders at store 1423, located in San Jose Ca. selected Alum Rock Counseling Center from submitted proposal requests because of their dedication to empowering young teens to excel in school, engage in their community, and develop leadership skills. Funding will be used for ARCC’s Turning Point Mentoring Program at Foothill Continuation High School which matches over 35 high-risk students (ages 14-18) with highly trained mentors, who will assist their youth to develop strategies, tools, and resources to overcome their personal and academic barriers and achieve individualized goals.
